Biography

Pre-Desideratum: Blood Bonds

Siri grew up in Europe, and always held an inquisitive nature. As a child, her parents would take her to old towns, trekking across fjords, and hiking in rickety, ancient woods. Once, as a little girl, Siri swore that as her family sat around a campfire, that in the woods, staring at them, she saw the bulbous visage of a troll. As she got older, she shrugged this off as a dream or fancy of a child; still, it intrigued her. She never lost that passion for finding the impossible, and thanks to a stellar educational program, she was poised to go to college.

Siri worked tirelessly on any given experiment, and tended to focus on biology and DNA more than anything. The idea that people were predisposed to become what and who they were fascinated her. The concepts of mutations only spurned her further, and thanks to many of her own developments in college, there are countless DNA and heritage websites that can track your ancestry. She became a pioneer and prodigy in the realm of biology, and the U.S. government personally offered her full citizenship if she would come to the country. She accepted, and wound up working for Medical USA, or MedUSA for short, located in Portland, Oregon. She loved her job, and managed to make a name for herself in only her first few months by discovering a protein called NGA1 which controls transcription of a key gene that ultimately allows plants to survive after periods of drought. The discovery means that by controlling this protein, plants could effectively withstand long periods without water- if someone forgets to water their plants for a couple of days, their foliage would easily survive. The botanist, Rose Riley, quickly contacted Siri, asking all about her research and the scientist shared her notes with the botanist. This is where the dream of working at MedUSA became a nightmare.

The company threatened to sue her and deport her back to Denmark for sharing secrets belonging to them. Though Siri apologized, explaining she meant no harm in the sharing of information and that she felt it benefited all of science and mankind to do so, their lawyers felt otherwise. Finally, the CEO asked everyone but her to leave the office, and she gave Siri a chance to save herself. To her absolute shock, the CEO told her that vampires and many other creatures of crypto-zoology and folklore are real. Siri thought she was joking at first but she grabbed Siri by the face, locking eyes, and repeated herself. She wanted Siri to study vampire blood, unlock the secret of immortality, and share it with her. If Siri did as she was told, then everything would be forgiven- and she would become rich and be made lead scientist.

Siri accepted, both from fear and curiosity, and the company dropped the lawsuit. She was taken to an underground lab, and found the place teeming with strange life. There were cells with people in the and cells, which could only be described as, monsters in them. What she witnessed seemed impossible. They brought her to a room with what appeared to be man on fire. The guards explained this was a vampire, and they kept U.V. lights on him at all times- bright enough to burn him, but dim enough to allow his body to regenerate fast enough that he could not die. The sight sickened and broke Siri’s heart. She withdrew a vial of blood from the vampire screaming in agony and set to work studying it. However, the image of that man haunted her, and Siri decided that any lawsuit would be worth saving that man’s soul. She used her studies to make tranquilizer darts and went back to the underground compound claiming she needed more blood. When she was in far enough, she shot the nearby guards with the darts and hit the release buttons on the cells. Strange horrors, alien creatures, and mythical beasts rampaged through the facility, killing everyone and smashing their way outside disappearing into the lands surrounding Portland. Though the door remained unlocked and open, Siri ran down the hallway and found the man still trapped, sizzling under the lights. She smashed the lights, and the moment they were off, the vampire was upon her.

For a long moment he held her, growling and snarling, but finally released her. He said his thirst and desire for blood was greater than it had ever been, but that she had freed him, and he spared her. Then, he also fled out of the installation and into the night. Moments later, a van, something that looked as if it had come from a junkyard, slid to a halt outside the building. A few people jumped out, demanding why Siri had freed the monsters. She did not know what to say, and they threw a bag over her head, tossed her into the van and sped off. She eventually found herself in a cell in what appeared to be an abandoned factory of some kind. It turned out that just as monsters are real- so are monster hunters! She had inadvertently come between them and MedUSA. The team of hunters had staked out the building for months and planned to bust in and slaughter all the creatures contained there, but Siri released them all into the wild around Portland. The hunters kept Siri hostage and dragged her to a few hunts so she could better understand what she did. She realized people in and around Portland were dying or becoming monsters because of her act of defiant kindness.

From then on, she vowed to help the hunters and try to make amends for what she had done. She worked on inventions and biological research for the group known only as The Night Stalkers. The Night Stalkers is a loose federation and paranormal society comprised of a multitude of people across many nations. Folklorists, mythologists, cryptozoologists, and more have banded together to slay the forces of darkness that hound mankind from the shadows.

Desideratum: Blood Bonds

As seen in the novel, Desideratum: Blood Bonds, Siri is one of The Night Stalkers. More information will be added in the final release of D:BB.

Cereborg: Inception

As seen in the novel, Cereborg: Inception, Siri welcome Emily Harbrook into the CereTech Installation. After the events that transpired in, Desideratum: Blood Bonds, the Night Stalkers were approached by the Bureau of Demonic Analysis. The U.S. government approached the group and struck what was, at first, a seemingly beneficial relationship. However, the government was after the Blood Suit. Siri was the one to originally convince Absinthe to have the samples taken and had intended to aid the government in finding ways to use the substance to benefit the agents. Siri began development on a substance that combined the Blood Suit with the Xenopox virus. She quickly learned that the substance could have a mind of its own. It appeared to be much more dangerous than she originally realized and when she voiced this to the lead scientist of the project, the Night Stalkers were told their services would no longer be needed. That and many other signs that the Night Stalkers saw while working for the BDA, caused them to think that the bureau may have been compromised by some type of monster or other entity. One thing Siri knew for sure was that the other scientists she talked to pointed at CereTech Laboratories as part of the problem. Little did they realize it was the wily Dagan Erebus, and he

A plan was formed in the group which set into motion several events. First, Siri was to infiltrate the facility and when she arrived at CereTech, many wondered why she would even be hired, being only a hematologist, albeit world-renown. However, she was actually there as a mole for the Night Stalkers and not the U.S. government. She had all the credentials and had someone posing as a government official contact Marv to insist that he hire her. Absinthe van Gothen, a monster hunter, persuaded Siri to do this, and when an actual government official, named Lyn Boonmee brought in a material only used by the Bureau of Demonic Analysis (BDA), the very material Siri had helped create and distrusted, the pair knew they found their mole- but they also had their hands on the substance again. Through her studies, Siri better perfected the substance in an attempt to remove its possible hive mind- which also led to the invention of the nanites which would later create the cereborgs.

By the time Emily Harbrook arrives at the labs, Siri has been there for months. She takes Emily to the chamber where Emily becomes the first cereborg. After this, Siri finds herself trapped with the other CereTech employees. She manages to survive the attack orchestrated by Cerebrum, and in the end, she feels completely responsible for Emily Harbrook's fate. This causes her great internal pain because she blames herself for so much death and carnage caused by the monsters of Portland as well. At the end of the novel, she apologizes to Emily. In the aftermath of these events, some wonder if the Night Stalkers survived and how well they can fare against aliens from the depths of space. Siri, herself, not only went with the CereSurvivors caravan as they sought other humans but runs her own branch of the group- Siri's Scientists. Now she spends all her time studying the genetics and biology of the infectulons in her attempts to find a way to not only kill them- but possibly revert the mutated humans back into their original form.

Factions: Crystals of Control

In the non-canonical Unity match-three game, Factions: Crystals of Control, it has been hinted by the creator that Siri might act as a "reverse transformation" unit. In other words, whereas the other factions can warp people and each other into different forms based on that particular faction, Siri might actually unlock human versions of the character by the use of a serum she invents, which itself is based off the Xenopox serum from Desideratum: Blood Bonds.

Appearance

Siri is a lightly haired 34-year-old woman from Denmark. She keeps herself poised and focused.

Abilities

High intellect - In the novels, she is often portrayed as brilliant but absent-minded, and occasionally even borders on being a mad scientist.

Notes and Trivia

In the novel, Desideratum: Blood Bonds, it is shown that Siri brought the container of giggle gas into Sanctuary. Players can reach a bad end by examining it before the Mount Hood monster hunt.
