Notes and Trivia

Mizah was born on Ravenhurst’s property. She was a very happy girl, trusting, and kind. The Reverend Roger Addams tried to capitalize on that when she was but a child, however, Anaximanes stopped him from teaching the girl lessons. Mizah grew up happy, playing in the woods, swimming in the lake, and enjoying life! Her grandmother, Jeta, taught her how to read palms as well as cast magic spells. The only magic her clan knew was Light magic. The years went by and Mizah grew into an adult. On the day Ravenhurst invited her to his wedding, she took his invitation as she walked through the woods. She tried to decipher the words, for fun, and sat in the shade under a tree near Eleanora’s tower. There, she awoke as the witch and a succubus named Dionyza passed by.

Intrigued, she followed them, and slipped into the tower. There she watched them both perform dark, black magic- the opposite of her grandmother’s. She saw Eleanora create a love potion, and learned that she intended for Anaximanes to drink it. She stole the potion and fled the tower- but Eleanora saw her! The wicked witch cursed the girl and promised revenge. Vengeance came quickly, and Mizah’s mother was killed the very next night. Mizah always tried to defend Ravenhurst to her clan, after his descent into madness, saying the rumors of him being a boogeyman were not true; however, things only got worse. Mizah saved Ravenhurst from the fate Eleanora would have wanted, yet she could not ever save him from himself.

Mizah grew to be an incredibly old gypsy woman. Her clan came to the United States after being chased from Russia, Hungary, and several other nations. They were continually pushed north from New York City, until they camped on Ravenhurst’s land. He was only a small boy then, and met her grandmother, Jeta. He allowed them reprieve on his land, and often fought with the local population. Mizah’s mother, Nadya, birthed her on Ravenhurst land, and she remained there for her entire life. As a gypsy, she felt the call to travel, but after she witnessed the demise of Ravenhurst, and his subsequent return as The Anax, she built a barrier of Light around the camp. In the earliest days of his return, on Halloween, she would try to help his soul find peace, but determined it could not happen.

Over time, the gypsies left or passed away, but, for more than a century and a half, she remained. Mizah would try to warn people to stay out of the woods, or give them a place to sleep within the shield she erected against the forces of darkness. Though it stood strong for as long as she did, every victim of The Anax served to increase his power, and every year, she grew weaker. In his incensed ire, The Anax managed to shatter the barrier. He lifted and threw her home into the air, and when it came crashing to the ground, she died. Mizah dedicated her entire life to kindness even though she did not have to.
