"Yes, yes, give me room, voman. Zis death ray packs a real punch!"

Biography

Pre-Giggle Night: Trixie's Trial

Doctor Demented’s real name is lost to history, likely destroyed in Nazi flame as Berlin fell to the Allies. He was born in Hamburg, Germany a complete genius. While he lacked empathy, he could understand, easily, the complex laws of physics. Mathematics was like paint and his drawing board the canvas. He constantly came up with new theories and small inventions. Seen in his city as a prodigy, at only the age of sixteen he was brought before Hitler. The Führer saw potential, and Demented showed loyalty and a lack of morality, and he was put to work. It was his calling and dream job to produce new inventions and weaponry for the Nazi war machine.

He created entirely new propulsion systems using heat and cold to reduce friction like sliding a wet, cold glass over a smooth warm table. He invented new biological weapons. He was the first scientist to utilize laser technology and even created power cells based on Tesla’s own experiments. He was only eighteen when Hitler invaded Poland, and was frustrated at how quickly he could design inventions but how long it took the engineers to fabricate the materials that he needed. Fortunately, a Nazi superhero, Wahnsinniges Weib, came to visit the young man. Given he was only eighteen and she was in her thirties, she found him very attractive. But, being a sapiosexual, it was his mind that truly drove her into lust. She helped relieve his tension throughout the war and the pair fell in love.

As Berlin fell, the now twenty-something Demented tried destroying many of his inventions, and as the Russians and Allies clashed, Demented Damsel, now his wife, helped him escape the city with her super strength but suffered catastrophic injuries. The doctor was able to keep her alive long enough to devise and build a type of stasis chamber. There she remains, to this day, though he has had to upgrade it and transfer her a few times. Broken and obsessed, he vowed vengeance on the U.S. and made his way to America. However, he was apprehended by the U.S. Government and his wife’s capsule was confiscated. They forced him to work at Area 51. When he refused, they told him that they still had his wife, and she was still in stasis, and would remain so- as long as he did what they told him to. While he worked in Area 51 he often found himself at odds with another prodigy, a man named Oliver Willoughby. On more than one occasion, the pair were forced to work on projects together.

Oliver eventually discovered that the government was experimenting on his mother, who had become a slugged slave of the Infectulons. He lost his patriotism over this and forged an alliance with the Nazi scientist whose code name was Doctor Demented. Together they worked to find a way to escape the installation. Oliver agreed to help Demented with the stasis capsule, so long as he helped Oliver escape with his mother. However, once Demented Damsel was safe, Doctor Demented abandoned Oliver. Unable to save his mother, the young scientist did manage to escape Area 51. Oliver was not seen as a threat, and never divulged any privileged information, but the government hounded Demented’s every step. Eventually, he managed to elude them long enough to set up a lab in an abandoned subway tunnel under New York City. There, he strove to finally exact his revenge on Americans everywhere.

Using alien technologies, which he had been introduced to at his time in Area 51, as a blue print- Demented began work on mind control technologies while also trying to find a way to resurrect his dead wife. He conjectured that with the correct technology, he could convert normal U.S. citizens into his henchmen, and set them to work against their own people. In time he succeeded, and became a supervillain of renown. He was one of the original founding members of the Syndicate of Immoral Nihilists (SIN). These criminals began to terrorize the U.S. and especially NYC in the 1960’s. Thus a band of superheroes formed to stand against them known as the Altruistic Coalition of Ethics (ACE). Over the decades just as American politics, technology, and culture changed, both SIN and ACE saw their share of members come and go.

In more current times, Doctor Demented was the last of the original members of SIN to still live- his unnaturally long life being due to his inventions. However, one member of present day SIN, the Giggler, started an all-out war in NYC.

Giggle Night: Trixie's Trial

In Giggle Night: Trixie's Trial, Doctor Demented is one of the meta-villain factions Trixie Goodwin can face. Trixie ended up being pulled into the Giggler’s plans and became a metahuman in the process. That day, the Giggler was taken in by the ParaPolice, a specialized police force that arrests and incarcerates supervillain metahumans. As Trixie tried to prove herself to ACE, she wound up attacking Demented’s laboratory. Forced to destroy his own lab, he managed to take his wife’s capsule, and escaped from NYC. He tried to put as much distance between him and the superheroine heading to the west coast.

Even as he arrived, he was met by a team of negotiators from a company called MedUSA. How they knew the evil villain was travelling there or had arrived was beyond his comprehension, but they promised access to some of the greatest technology, infinite finances, and total obscurity from the law. He could use them to hide and rebuild far from the meddling hero, Trix. It would also give him more opportunities to bring his wife back to life. The lab studied a strange mutagenic virus named, Xenopox. It was then that he recalled some stories that he had read about Johann Conrad Dippel. This pseudoscientist had supposedly brought a cadaver to life and the descriptions of the blood that he used seemed awfully similar to the Xenopox. After relaying his desire to have the specimen, MedUSA sent out special teams, and though the creature known as Karloff had been hidden away for centuries, with their vast resources, they located him. He was with Demented within a week.

Fascinated, the doctor befriended the well-intended but very dangerous Karloff. It worked, and though he originally did it in order to manipulate Karloff, Demented actually developed feelings for the monster. Siri Solen destroyed the lab, and Demented almost died to ensure that Karloff could escape. Just outside Portland, he found an abandoned building. The massive Hawthorne Asylum would make the perfect place to hide from heroes and with the number of homeless and missing persons, he knew that he’d have ample guinea pigs for his experiments. With MedUSA no longer a possible source for income or study, he set up a lab with any equipment he could find or pilfer and studied Karloff’s blood and the Xenopox virus strains that he had saved.

Desideratum: Blood Bonds

In Desideratum: Blood Bonds, Doctor Demented is working from the Hawthorne Asylum. After weeks of fruitless trial and error, Demented remembered working with Siri Solen. Her understanding of the microbiology involved with the Xenopox was greater even than his own, so he sent out women that he had recently brainwashed and converted into his “nurses”. Undercover, they tried to find Siri and eventually located Sanctuary. He tried various ways of reaching out to Siri, and eventually threatened to kill all the Night Stalkers if she did not come. At the same time, Molly McCoy had been bitten by a mutant spider, and infected with that strain of the Xenopox. Siri thought that she could help the doctor and ask for the original Xenopox strain in return so that she could use it to create an antidote, serum, or vaccine. Once she arrived, the doctor revealed that she would be going nowhere until his wife lived again.

Absinthe Van Gothen arrived the next night, determined to save her friend. After destroying blood mutants and being forced to kill the lobotomized slaves of Demented, she managed to destroy Karloff. Finally, she stood before Demented himself. Thinking her a superhero, he was shocked at her total disregard for the general protocol that he had grown accustomed to over fifty years. In the end, she actually managed to stop him. Demented escaped, and as usual, had rigged his lair to destruct. Once he reached his wife, whose capsule was already stowed in an escape vehicle, he left the asylum and it exploded shortly after. Still trying to hide and revive his wife, the current whereabouts of the insane Doctor Demented are unknown.
