Adder Stone
The Adder Stone appears to consist of two different types of rocks. It is circular in shape and glowing runes rotate in opposite circles along its cold exterior. Adder Stones are sometimes called Hag Stones or Witch Stones. They are believed to have magical powers such as protection against certain ailments or evil curses. Adder Stones were revered among the ancient Gaul Druids, and, in fact, the Adder Stones were seen as status symbols in their culture. However, this particular Adder Stone has travelled between owners since the days of the Roman Empire.
The troll, Stenhållare, Son of Dovregubben, made his way to America with the earliest Viking expeditions, long before other western cultures found their way to the Americas. In what would later be known as the Marble Halls, a cavern system in Portland, Oregon, he set up his domain. He often would steal away maidens, but few of the human females could survive copulating with a troll, and none could survive the trollish offspring growing in their wombs. However, one of his kobold minions happened to overhear Hobs Hornswaggle, the hobgoblin, talking to some witches in his shop. They were looking to procure many magical weapons of war, and he made a trade for some of their finest items.
Apparently, the women had originally been druids of the forest and had this very Adder Stone in their care. They now adored their new mistress and reveled in their wickedness, so they had no desire to be protected from evil curses or darkness any longer, thus they offered the stone as part of the payment. Hobs made a deal, and, after consulting with his best goblin shaman, Stenhållare found that the stone could be used, albeit indirectly, for nefarious purpose. If inserted into a human female’s sex, then by ejaculating through the hole in the Adder Stone, he could not only impregnate the female- but turn her into a troll, ensuring that his lineage would survive!
The troll sent a couple of his minions with a load of treasure to buy the stone, and Hobs happily sold it. At the same time, Absinthe Van Gothen and Brone Lorcan were actually in the same store buying her first round of equipment. The goblin kin carried the stone back to Stenhållare and he toyed with the idea of going above ground for the first time in centuries to take a mate and drag her into the caverns below. However, the Night Stalkers, Selena Santana and Absinthe Van Gothen happened to launch their monster hunt that very night. Observing them in his magic crystal, the troll grew ecstatic. Both were young, vibrant women that he could test his new toy upon.
Using his powers, he created massive stone hands to grab them both, but managed only to abduct Selena. He had considered trying again to also grab Absinthe when he saw she did not flee, but was too impatient to try out his Adder Stone. However, we quickly saw that Absinthe was unlike any mortal female he had witnessed. She slew his hordes of minions, solved enchanted puzzles, and outwitted traps. He decided that she would be the truly worthy mate, and awaited her arrival in his chamber. She not only came, but slew him. His caverns collapsed at his death, but Selena managed to steal the Adder Stone in time. She gave it to Absinthe Van Gothen.
