Hekaduat
Vampires are a type of undead monster in the Anaxverse. As seen in the novel, Desideratum: Blood Bonds, vampires in the Anaxverse are collectively known as the Nightbred. Nuit’s corruption of human blood works similarly, to some degree, as that of other demons from the Outer Darkness. Being a goddess more aligned with the night and death, her minions walk a line between the living and the dead. However, while her curse affects the spirit and is spiritual in essence, blood is a physical corporeal substance native to the Physical World. Like all genetic material in the chaotic material plane, every time a vampire forms, there stands a chance for mutation within their strain. Oftentimes, on these rare occurrences, the afflicted vampire obtains a singularly useful ability- perhaps to shape-shift or to sexually reproduce. In some cases, due to circumstances in a given area or population, a particular vampire strain might spread like wildfire. It could also be that people of certain descent and DNA might be more prone to become particularly affected by certain strains of vampirism due to their gnome.
The Hekaduat Strain or Hekaduat Vampires are one such strain. They have generally blue or dead, greenish flesh. Being the original humans bitten by the pharaoh, Hatshepsut, these Nightbred are very powerful and the eldest of all other vampires. They are few in number because in the Middle East, Muslim monster hunters relentlessly hunt and destroy them with unparalleled fervor. However, those that remain and have managed to live millennia have done so by being exceptionally cunning and wise. They tend to be quiet and observant, shrewd and calculating, and when they do speak or make an action, it is with absolute purpose and conviction. Avid worshippers of Nuit, they could not ignore the claims that Ivor made about summoning the goddess.
Many of these vampires remember Hatshepsut well and the eternal night that once empowered them. Seeking to eliminate the monster hunters that have hounded them, and bring worship of the dark goddess back to the areas that they call home, they came to witness this resurrection of Nuit. When Absinthe Van Gothen attacked the vampires of the Shanghai Tunnels, very few Hekaduat fought. Most stood back to watch what would ensue as their extremely long lives leave them dispassionate. Once they saw that the summoning would not occur, they fled into the night, to wait for the next possible chance that Nuit would have in order to return from the Outer Darkness.
