Notes and Trivia

Madeline’s tale closely mimics that of Ada Perrin’s in that she once represented a powerful woman only to be reduced to a sex object by Marvin Everett’s device. When she first joined CereTech, she had been CEO of her own tech company for two years. Marv bought the company out, and Madeline came to work for him as one of his managers. She had worked her whole life to attain the status she had, but Marv had purchased her company not because of any business competitive reason; rather, he wanted her.

Marvin knew she would be strong willed and minded, and it took little time until she was known as the ‘ice queen’ by the employees of CereTech. Marv would often make passes and innuendoes only to have her one up him, making him look foolish, and this further incensed him. Once he managed to expose her to the crystal, he went about trying to melt her mind and destroy her resolve, and to her credit, Madeline appeared very resilient. However, little bits at a time chipped away. Her natural beauty, for example, while considered exemplary to most, was not fake enough for Marv’s tastes. Without knowing he had germinated the seed inside her mind, she went to get multiple plastic surgeries, expanding her breasts and lips, face lifts, and more, as she slowly shaped herself into a plastic doll. However, she still managed to fight off Marv’s sexual advances.

Marv had still not quite broken her by the time Cerebrum attacked, though Marvin’s own machinations actually helped Cerebrum’s hypno-virus push its way into her psyche, turning her into a woman with a desire to become a cereborg. She never did, because she had spent almost two days staring into her flashing monitor, deeply being programmed, until the moment Cerebrum shut down. By the time her head stopped spinning and she walked down the hallway, she found many survivors in the commons. She shouted about how they should find cereborgs and become one with the machines. The other subdued her, and once Howard arrived, he explained the situation. Now, she travels with the survivors, doing her best to pretend she wants to be with them, when in her mind all she desires is to become a robot.
