Notes and Trivia

Daydream and her sister, Moonbeam, both grew up in Sugar Loaf, New York, a small hamlet near the town of Chester, an artistic community full of free spirits and love. Moonbeam's hippie parents always supported her and let her become or do whatever she wanted. She never knew the horrors her parents endured at the hands of the U.S. government, but because of their harrowing experiences, their daughters were born with powerful psychic abilities. Moonbeam could sense the spirits of the dead, even going as far as to become a medium, allowing the dead to speak through her. Daydream, on the other hand, could not sense the dead. She could sense only demonic forces. As if it were a sound or smell, she could follow demonic energies to their sources. When the BDA got word of this, they attempted to sway her to join them for the good of mankind. For a number of years, she declined and tried to live a simple, bohemian life. Until one faithful Halloween.

Her sister Moonbeam had joined a paranormal society called the Female Phantom Finders, and they often did ghost hunts. However, on that Halloween night, unbeknownst to Daydream, her sister fell victim to The Anax becoming one of his Shadowed minions. All that Daydream knew was her sister had vanished along with thirteen other women, and she set out to investigate the island. Once on Ghost Nook, she could feel something dark, and by nightfall it was confirmed as Shadow Demons chased her through the woods. Shambling possessed bodies rose from the ground, and Daydream fled further inland. She spent several nights on the islands witnessing unfathomable paranormal events, and determined that Moonbeam had fallen victim to something on that island. She wrote a book about the experience, but most people laughed about it. Many felt the girl had cracked on losing her sister, or worse, some accused her of trying to capitalize on the death of her sister and the others. Broken and ashamed, Daydream returned to the BDA in hopes of helping change the world for the better.

Since then, she has proven vital for the nation’s security. Daydream can sense the moment demonic portals open or where demons manifest. This gives the BDA faster reaction times than ever! However, when Bo summoned Nergal, the reeling effect of the dark god’s invocation caused Daydream to nearly lose herself in the corruption! Though she sat in an underground room in Virginia, she struggled to maintain sanity. The moment the portal sealed itself, she went into a panic trying to get the BDA to act as quickly as possible. In truth, if not for the underhanded efforts of Agent Getty, with Daydream’s early alert, there would have been a quick containment.

Transformation

Looking across Earth, the Over-Master found a woman that was about to be assimilated by a Minder, and it called out. The Minder ceased its pursuit, and the Over-Master cornered the girl. It gave her an ultimatum through a Minded spokesman- submit and be allowed to retain herself and mind, or resist and be killed. The Over-Master had found humans shared an emotion called ‘fear’, and that a vast majority appeared to fear death over all other things. Using this as a bargaining chip, it much more often than not, resulted in a gain for the Invaders.

The woman, whose name it found to be Daydream Sunflower, was brought to Splicers for study. The aliens picked through her DNA, and they managed to create a schematic for an improved version of the human. As Daydream screamed and writhed in agony, the Splicers took their time plucking and editing every cell of her body on a molecular level, until Daydream no longer screamed- she mewled in pleasureful servitude. When she arose, she had become a bluish-greened skinned monstrosity, the first Defiler.
