Krakenite
Krakenites are aquatic humanoids that are evil by nature. They desire nothing more than to rule the oceans and the entire world. Capable of using psionic powers to control humans, they can cause a person to drown themselves. There are few females, and they will also mentally control female humans into the water. Once there, they have two different ways to convert them. Amid the undulating tentacles of a krakenite’s face, there is one tentacle that can be broken off. Once inside a mortal it can travel and connect to the brain, causing a link between the two forever. The human works as a puppet. The other is that with human females, they can use the tentacle to inject their DNA into the host. The infected female will mutate and become a krakenites herself, which always defers to the mental power of a male. They evolved into sentience in the Early Miocene period. Just as humanity would later do on land, these krakenites did so below. They came to worship the massive krakens as gods with both having the power to communicate telepathically.
As they developed a connection, it soon became that the krakens, with their huge brains and brawn, were to rule over the humanoids. The krakenites lost themselves into the minds of their gods and continued to build a civilization around them for millions of years. Then in the Age of Myths, when the gods of man, beings not of the corporeal world as the krakens were, came onto the Earth, war began under the waves. As mankind conceptualized gods of the sea, these beings could swim from elemental water dimensions into the Physical World. They fought the krakens and the krakenites. Eventually only a handful of krakens remained and they fled to the darkest, deepest parts of the ocean to sleep and recover from battle. Guarded by the last pockets of krakenites, these monsters dreamed of the day that they could take back the oceans and force the air breathers on land into submission.
Recently, as humanity has caused the Earth’s climate to change exponentially quickly, warmer waters are reaching lower depths and the kraken stir. When they awaken, they swim through the sea, devouring as much life as they can. The krakenites rejoice at this spectacle and they will swarm sometimes in the thousands, following their gods all the way to the surface. One such kraken awoke off the coast of Oregon. When the Night Stalkers, Absinthe Van Gothen and Kendra Tallulah, were embarking to Sauvie Island, the kraken smelled and sensed the Blood Suit made of the blood of Vlad Țepeș. It tried to unsuccessfully devour Abby and the heroine, luckily, had magic bombs on hand. Releasing several, they sank into the water and into the massive maw of the beast. They exploded, destroying the kraken from within and it died, sinking to the bottom of the ocean. Most of the nearby krakenites fled in terror from seeing a god destroyed. A sea god, Dakuwanga, who witnessed the spectacle, blessed Absinthe for the deed.
