Ilihana Fernández

"You feel the power of the shadow-shard, don’t you?"

Biography

Born in Argentina in 1821, Ilihana spent her time playing in the nearby forest which would later be known as Nahuel Huapi National Park. On warm days the little girl would run about the woods or swim, and when the cold came, she and her family would spend time together huddled in their little home. It was a basic, good life, and she was loved. As she grew into womanhood, it was clear that she was attractive. Men in the nearby village would often come seeking her. At eighteen, while walking with a boy in the forest on a bright summer day, the two were running about and talking of the future, which he assured her that she would be in. Just then, the sky turned black as ink as a swirling strange storm appeared within seconds. As they looked up, purple lightning tore through the sky and a deep, reverberating moan as if a giant man were sad or upset echoed through the mountains. Then from the center of the swirl an object, wreathed in blackish flames, shot down and slammed into the nearby trees. Then, within seconds the storm dissipated and the day returned to normal.

Terrified, but curious, Ilihana could not help but slowly walk forward towards the area where the object would have fallen. Her companion urged caution and that they should go, but the woman refused, and he did not desire to appear weak or timid, so he stayed. As they approached the area, there was an unnatural purple glow. And, there was a small crater where the object had landed. The grass around it had shriveled and died, and as they watched, even the leaves of the trees were falling off in clumps as if their lives were being drained away. As they peered into the little crater, they saw what appeared to be a strange necklace with a huge purple crystal attached. At this point, the shaking man pleaded with her to go. Ilihana had never seen anything like it in her short life. As she reached and touched it, an immense and powerful voice consumed her thoughts instantly. The man knelt down, calling her name when the woman seemed to freeze in place. She suddenly peered at him, her eyes milky white, and she grabbed him with her other hand. Her iron grip unbreakable, the man screamed as a cold sensation ran through him. He violently shook and his body shriveled and turned to only skin and bones.

Releasing the corpse, Ilihana stared, smiling into the crystal. The voice told her of how nothing would exist. It showed her how insignificant she was. It showed her that the very Earth would someday be destroyed by the sun- itself destroyed, and that every last star and atom would be devoured by its entropy. All things would end at this being’s maw. Ilihana wept for she had found the true god. She placed the collar onto her neck, binding herself to Chernobog. The Librarian had managed to destroy the dark god, when it came to devour all knowledge. And, as the rest of Chernobog’s bloated astral body rained down through the Outer Darkness, he managed to thrust a singular piece of himself into the Physical World. Now, bound to the darkness and his will, Ilihana longed to help her master reform and devour the very heavens.

The shadow-shard enveloped her with shadows, a suit made of darkness itself. Her mind now filled with the knowledge and power of the god of the void, and she looked down at the corpse of her former companion. Speaking ancient spells, the body rose. As she floated through the forest, the trees moaned and decayed and the grass and dirt itself became void of life energy. She emerged and her family was next, their souls consumed, their bodies raised, she began forming an army of the dead. She became known as Necrolord, for all other necromancers bowed before her. Her powers of shadow and undeath went beyond the comprehension of mortals, and for good reason, Chernobog himself was a part of her.
