All goblin-kin share some traits. They are usually much shorter and wirier than humans. They are generally very agile and belligerent. Goblin-kin have a certain, natural penchant for cruelty and anger. And, they are, by nature, all male, needing to capture and transform human women as a means to reproduce. However, that reproduction cycle is entirely faster than humans, and goblin-kin are typically born within a week of conception. This is due to their highly shortened chances for survival since they constantly kill each other. There are countless types of goblin-kin around the world, but they are all subterranean monsters, hating the sunlight and preferring to pilfer and kill at night. The final unifying trait which they all share is the uncanny and natural affinity for portal conjuration and teleportation. Almost any goblin-kin can open a portal, step through it, and appear somewhere else entirely.
In folklore a gremlin is a mischievous creature that causes malfunctions in aircraft or other machinery. Depictions of these creatures vary. Often they are described or depicted as small monsters with large strange eyes and sharp teeth. The term "gremlin" denoting a mischievous creature that sabotages aircraft originates in Royal Air Force (RAF) slang in the 1920s among the British pilots stationed in Malta, the Middle East, and India, with the earliest recorded printed use being in a poem published in the journal Aeroplane in Malta on 10 April 1929. In reality, gremlins are indeed mischievous!
They have two unique traits. The first is that they can reproduce either sexually or asexually. The latter being what happens if a machine they are possessing explodes. What had been a singular entity becomes several fractured versions of the original spirit, and usually they have all new personalities. Unlike any other known monsters, goblin or otherwise, they have the ability to possess machinery, the way that some spirits are able to possess living creatures. The moment a gremlin’s psyche merges with a machine, it instantly gains complete and precise knowledge of that piece of equipment. At that point the creature either sabotages it- laughing hysterically at whatever chaos ensues, or they directly use the possessed machine to hurt, maim, or kill mortals. The most famous gremlin in the Anaxverse is Grimey Geargrinder, best friend to the Night Stalker, Selena Santana.
