Afancs are water creatures left over from the Age of Myths. In those ancient times, demons, gods, and spirits fought all over the Earth with magic and curses flowing freely across the lands and seas. Being around eight feet long and weighing as much as four hundred pounds, they resemble an alligator. They use large arm fins almost as underwater wings, and can speed forward like a torpedo the moment prey nears. Their jaws bite with incredible power, and once done they do not release their prey. They will spin through the water at great speeds to confuse their prey and then, as the victim tries to get their bearings, the afanc will pick off chunks of their flesh until only bone remains.
