In Inuit folklore, mahahas are supernatural beings, demons who terrorize the Arctic and tickle their victims to death.  In truth, this sums up the horrifying monsters of the north.  Born from the corpses of the dead that freeze to death in the colder climes, descending into madness, their spirits refuse to leave the Physical World.  Dying in insanity, the last sounds they make or hear is their pathetic, mad laughter, alone in the great fields of white snow.  Their faces frozen in eternal grins, they seek only to share their terrible fate with others as they stalk the wilderness where they took their last breath.  They do not talk, but only make laughing sounds, hence the name of these undead.
