In Manx folklore, a buggane (or boagane) was a huge ogre-like creature native to the Isle of Man. Some have considered them akin to the Scandinavian troll. This is a rather poor analogy in regards to reality. Unlike trolls which are subterranean, bugganes live above ground and do not have regenerative powers. Somewhere between troll and sasquatch, they have long pointy ears, shaggy hair, and angry dispositions. Buggane skin color ranges from blue to dark grey and their fur color ranges from black to bright oranges and they have been sighted all over the world. The few that lived on the isle of Man have long since been destroyed, but in other places they have eked out a living and avoided mankind. | In Manx folklore, a buggane (or boagane) was a huge ogre-like creature native to the Isle of Man.

Bugganes have been called Skunk Apes in many parts of the southern United States.
