In Norse mythology a giant, jötunn (plural jötnar/jǫtnar) is a type of entity contrasted with gods and other figures, such as dwarves and elves.  In reality, they are massive lumbering creatures that are shaped like massive humans.  There are many different varieties of giant, frost giants among them. With ice-cold, rock-hard flesh, frost giants are more durable than others of their kin.  Their skin usually ranges from pale as snow to deep, dark blues.  They generally have thick white beards and carry gigantic weapons.  Stomping through snowy arctic fields, leaping across glaciers, or skulking in cold caverns, these giants are not to be trifled with.  They are far smarter and more civilized than the average giant.  Native to Jötunheim, they occasionally wind up in the Physical World via spells or portals.  If in a warm clime, they will become weakened and die, melting like ice.  However, in cold regions, they can last indefinitely and are immortal beings.  When a giant is slain or dies in the Physical World, their spirit returns to Jötunheim eventually reincarnating.
