Tartarus is a realm of pain and torture. This is a realm where the truly psychotic and sadistic find their minds upon dying. They are not the greedy addicts and forlorn souls of the Underworld but are instead truly evil, disturbed souls that gain wicked pleasure through acts of malicious cruelty. Emotional, mental, and physical abusers, serial killers, sociopaths, and other unsavory souls spend their eternity here, torturing or being tortured. The moment one of their minds detaches from a physical anchor upon death, to appear here, the others nearby try use the opportunity to pounce on the newly arrived spirit before it has a chance to understand what is happening or where it finds itself.
