Hobs Hornswaggle is one of the most famous hobgoblins in history due to his amassing of magical and enchanted objects which he sells from his store, the [[House of Haggle]]. Hobs, like all hobgoblins, had a proclivity for pilfering. He acquired a few small benign artifacts and sold them for a profit, and realized how much he liked gold. Soon, he was risking his life to get any item of power that he could, but he survived due to quick wit and his stealthing abilities. As he acquired more, he decided that putting his life at risk was foolish and that it would be better business to put other goblins’ lives at risk instead. So, he opened the House of Haggle with a few trinkets, and would pay other goblin-kin for anything that they managed to bring him. Soon, word got around and other monsters began to seek out Hobs for items.

This meant that he could open trade with other creatures, and he was able to add even more items to his inventory including potions. His business continued to grow along with his reputation, but he wanted even more. This is when he crossed paths with the Ravenhursts, [[Theodore Ravenhurst|Theodore]] and [[Deborah Ravenhurst|Deborah]]. He had learned about the pair and knew these humans had collected a vast fortune worth of enchanted objects. But, no matter how hard he tried to open a portal into their vault, he could find no way. One night, he approached the pair as they were coming home from an archeological dig. He offered them gold, power, and or anything they could want, so long as they would part with their items. However, the pair refused, and he eventually persisted to the point that Theodore lost his temper and almost slew Hobs then and there. However, Hobs managed to instead pique their interest in items that he had.

They traded some of their artifacts for some of his. Hobs was rather surprised that the humans only wanted things that were cursed and could not benefit them in any way, while what they traded were generally good items that had a real use for them. Among their trades to Hobs he obtained the [[Kibsis]] and [[Babr-e Bayan]].

In [[Desideratum: Blood Bonds]], Hobs is a general merchant, whom sells both magical artifacts to [[Brone]] and [[Absinthe]], as well as various potions and bombs. He does not deal with these two exclusively, selling to numerous creatures in the world.
