As seen in the novel, [[Cult of Corruption: The Summoning]], Ah Pwash grants backstory to the Marek sisters. [[Lana]] and [[Mara]] have joined the [[BDA]], helping fight corruptive influences like what Ah Pwash did to their sister, [[Nora]].

When the Mayan Empire rose from the jungles, they built huge cities and crafted deities with reverence and fear. Ah Pwash first sprang into existence as the [[Mayan]] people created concepts of hell, evil, and eternal punishment. There, in the [[Outer Darkness]], Ah Pwash began harvesting wayward souls. His priests sent him sacrifices and the god blessed them with power and extended, unnatural life. However, decades and centuries rolled by, and no number of souls could quench Ah Pwash’s infinite hunger. Suddenly, one day, Ah Pwash found himself face to face with his priests! So much blood and souls the god had asked for that finally the Mayans slew his own cult! This outraged the god, and he took his ire out on those that had served him most.

Decades and centuries rolled by, and the Mayan priesthood passed down the knowledge of Ah Pwash. They said the demon god could bestow power but the cost was too high. However, an apprentice of the high priest at the time desired that power. Through study and question, he learned of the forgotten ruins where Ah Pwash’s original cult had dwelled, and he meant to resurrect it! He sacrificed people to Ah Pwash, and with fresh souls, the god’s power grew again. It takes but one worshipper to have a hold on the corporeal world, and Ah Pwash wasted no time. He taught the mortal the darkest magics of necromancy, and soon the ancient dead rose from their graves. When enough blood and pain had passed, the powerful apprentice summoned the very god into the world! For his service, the god twisted the man into a lich, and then he ordered his undead slaves to scour the jungle and claim the living! Ah Pwash would not be denied an endless river of blood and souls again!

However, across the world lie ancient and forgotten artifacts. Weapons and tools crafted by powerful magic or immortal hands, and the Mayans held a handful of such relics, and their bravest warriors and champions from across the empire assembled to fight the threat. Against all odds these brave souls stood against the impossible- and won! They managed to send the god back to the Outer Darkness, defeat the undead hordes, and they locked the lich away in a tomb. To this day, Ah Pwash watches and waits for his chance to walk the Earth.
