Biography
Pre-Slugs and Bugs: Invasion
Marlena has always been vindictive, conniving, and shrewd. Her wealthy parents put her through college, and she had barely graduated before being hired at a financial firm. It did not take her long to undermine everyone around her, and within two years, she ran the entire company. She eventually ran two companies after a merger, and life seemed to be going up- until the Great Recession hit the United States. Her company buckled, and though she got hers, her employees lost everything, even their retirements. Dagan Erebus had only come onto the scene at the time, and she applied. During their interaction, she could see he was a slime ball, but she told him that under her rule, he would only see a return on investment, and that she would look the other way on anything else he wanted to do with or to the employees. Dagan put her to work, and she stayed true to her word. Marlena ignored any sexual assault allegations, and would often bring troubling employees directly to Dagan. She did not know his secret, but he always managed to turn feisty women’s attitudes around. In fact, Dagan only hired women, and it was not until after his incarceration, she stepped in and taking over the entire financial firm, finally hired some male workers. Marlena rules with an iron fist, and no one means more to her- than herself.
Slugs and Bugs: Invasion
In Slugs and Bugs: Invasion, Marlena is a cold, calculating manager. She offsets Justine's friendly demeanor, and ends up a primary rival throughout the text.
Appearance
Marlena is a 37 year old, whom dresses in business suits to help intimidate those around her.

Transformation
Marlena and Kiki fled to the roof of the Erebus Building when the invasion began. When the Minders came, Kress gave Kiki to them, then gave herself over. She was able to keep her personality.

Marlena became warped after the transformation. With the minder over her head, her skin turned the same, mottled red color. She sees through the minder's eye.

Post-Transformation Biography
Marlena and Kiki fled to the roof of the Erebus building when the invasion began, and looking down, she watched as the aliens fanned out. When the Minders came she tasered Kiki and gave her to them. Then, she gave herself to her new Masters. As gratitude at her behavior, she kept her personality. She knew Justine’s greatest friends, and set about to take them. Kate was slugged, Anne was bugged, and the Minder bonded with Fiona was actually meant to target Jen. This knowledge enraged Justine, and the emotions roiled inside her. She already had some latent psychic powers deep within, but her Minder’s link amplified them further. When her fear, sadness, and anger finally manifested, Justine turned into a siren of unimaginable psychic power. Using her telekinetic energy, she blasted Marlena, and flew her and Jen to safety before collapsing.
