In Irish folklore leprechauns (Irish: leipreachán/luchorpán) are diminutive supernatural beings, classed by some as a type of solitary fairy.  They are usually depicted as little bearded men, wearing a coat and hat, who partake in mischief. In later times, they have been depicted as shoe-makers who have a hidden pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.  In reality they are nature spirits that have some innate control or comprehension of “luck”.  In other words, while the Physical World, the universe, appears completely chaotic and random with incalculable variables interacting with each other through the entire cosmos even on a subatomic level.  Yet, somehow, leprechauns are able to shift events around them into their favor against every statistical odd.  For example, Absinthe Van Gothen came to Forest National Park the night that the Night Stalkers, Sani Lightfoot and Katerina Mordova, arrived to aid the dryad Draeope against the plague witches of Baba Yaga.  However, while many defenders of the woods crossed paths with Abby, mistaking her for an evil being due to the blood of Vlad Țepeș, she never encountered any of the leprechauns.  They were too lucky, and never even knew that she was there, thus they survived the night without a scratch.  However, she did find a leprechaun home and stole his gold and a lucky coin, which she threw into a fountain to gain the blessing of a fairy queen.
